A glorious debut album from ex-members of the cult US black metal band TYPHUS released by Frostcald Records / Hexenhammer Records. And so begins an epic journey through various sub-genres of black metal, folk and doom delivered by DYSPERIUM, a two-man black/folk hybrid from (Moon) Oregon and (Nacht) Indiana. Although DYSPERIUM are relatively obscure, they create a wonderful style black and folk metal, as well as dabbling into other genres like doom and heavy metal. As you can probably tell from this brief description, the self-titled full-length debut is a wide ranging album with lots of layered facets woven within it's sonic fabric. One song will focus on the mesh of black and folk with an ominous doom style, using the medium of melancholic growls to top off the atmosphere. Other songs focus more on the folk approach through clean "Garm" (early Ulver) inspired vocals and acoustic guitars where every chord of the ancient strings can be heard clearly. A buried gem of an album for those who are looking deeper underground for well crafted and inspiring music!
